Hostinger review India 2026: is it worth it for your first website?

We host WebShuru on a Hostinger Unlimited plan. Here is what you actually pay in India, what works well, what to watch out for, and who should pick something else.

Short answer: Hostinger is a sensible, low-cost choice for a first website in India, especially if you pay for a long term upfront and remember that it renews at a higher price. The Unlimited plan is the best value for most small businesses; Premium is fine for one to three simple sites.

Our verdict in one table

Prices below were taken from hostinger.com/in/pricing on 2 November 2026 (IST) for the 48-month term, during a "Sale Season" promotion. The monthly figure is the total you pay today divided by 48.

How we reviewed Hostinger

This is not a review written from a press release. WebShuru itself runs on a Hostinger Unlimited web hosting plan, so the experience notes below come from setting up and running this site. We also read Hostinger's India pricing page, its refund policy and its help-centre articles on data centres, and we link to or summarise them where they matter.

What we did not do: we did not run months of uptime monitoring or load tests, and we did not test every plan. Where we rely on what Hostinger says rather than what we measured, we say so.

What we liked

1. Setup is genuinely quick

Creating a new website on the plan took seconds, and the site was ready for files almost immediately. SSL was already active when we checked: our site loaded over HTTPS with a valid certificate without us requesting one. For a beginner, that removes one of the most confusing steps.

2. Low first-term price with a domain included

Premium, Unlimited and Cloud Startup list a domain "free for 1 year", and you claim it from the dashboard with the Claim domain button. If you were going to buy a .com or .in anyway, that offsets part of the first-year cost. Read our guide to getting a free domain with hosting for the fine print.

3. Good performance for a simple site

A lightweight static site like this one scored in the 90s for mobile performance in Google Lighthouse tests we ran. Hosting is only part of that score (the site's own design matters more), but the host did not hold it back. Unlimited and Cloud plans use NVMe storage and include a CDN.

4. India data centre option

Hostinger's help centre lists India among its data centre locations for web and cloud hosting. Hosting close to your visitors usually reduces response time, so pick India during setup if most of your audience is here.

5. Builder or WordPress, your choice

Every plan we compared includes Hostinger's AI website builder and WordPress. If you are unsure which to use, see WordPress vs website builder.

What could be better

1. Renewal prices are much higher

This is the big one. Unlimited costs ₹199/mo in the first term but renewed at ₹649/mo when we checked, more than three times as much. Budget for the renewal from day one, or pick a longer first term so the low price lasts longer.

2. The low monthly price needs a long upfront payment

The ₹199/mo headline requires paying ₹9,552 upfront for 48 months. Shorter terms cost more per month. If cash flow matters, compare the total for a 12-month term on the pricing page.

3. Domain refunds work differently

The 30-day money-back guarantee covers the hosting plan, but the free domain is generally non-refundable, and Hostinger may deduct the domain's standard price from a refund. Domain renewals are not refundable, and .in registrations are on the non-refundable list.

4. A small hiccup in our own setup

Our first file upload, made seconds after creating the site, failed because the new site was not quite ready. Retrying a minute later worked. Not a big deal, but if something fails right after setup, wait a minute before contacting support.

5. "Unlimited" has limits

Unlimited websites and mailboxes are subject to Hostinger's fair usage policy, and every plan has fixed RAM, CPU and file (inode) limits. Unlimited lists 3 GB RAM, 2 CPU cores and 600,000 files and directories. That is plenty for typical small-business sites, but it is not a dedicated server.

Pros

  • Low first-term prices in INR
  • Domain included for year one
  • SSL set up automatically
  • AI builder and WordPress included
  • India data centre option
  • 30-day money-back on hosting

Cons

  • Renewals cost 3x or more
  • Best price needs a 48-month upfront payment
  • Free domain is non-refundable
  • "Unlimited" is fair-use, not infinite
  • Taxes may be added at checkout

Our pick is Unlimited at ₹199/mo for 48 months (renews at ₹649/mo, checked 2 Nov 2026). Confirm today's price on Hostinger's site.Opens Hostinger's site in a new tab · we may earn a commission

Which plan should you buy?

  • Single (₹69/mo): one website, 10 GB SSD, weekly backups. Fine for a one-page site you will rarely update. You outgrow it quickly.
  • Premium (₹139/mo): up to 3 websites, 20 GB SSD, weekly backups, 2 mailboxes per site for the first year. Good for a blog or a personal portfolio.
  • Unlimited (₹199/mo): unlimited websites (fair use), 50 GB NVMe, daily backups, unlimited mailboxes for the first year. Only ₹60/mo more than Premium in the first term, and daily backups alone are worth it for a business.
  • Cloud Startup (₹599/mo): 100 GB NVMe, 4 GB RAM, 4 CPU cores, dedicated IP. For online stores or sites with steady traffic.

Our full side-by-side table, including databases, PHP workers and AI builder credits, is in Hostinger plans compared.

Who should choose something else?

  • If you only need a link-in-bio page, a free social profile or a free website builder subdomain may be enough to start.
  • If you want monthly billing with no long commitment, the best Hostinger prices are tied to long terms, so compare total cost carefully.
  • If you need root access and custom server software, look at a VPS rather than shared web hosting.
  • If you expect very high traffic from day one, start on a cloud plan or talk to a developer about your needs.

Our experience with the dashboard

The Hostinger dashboard (called hPanel) groups each website's settings in one place: files, databases, SSL, backups, email and performance settings. Beginners will mostly use three things: the website builder or WordPress installer, the domain section, and email. The layout is clean, and the help articles are searchable from inside the dashboard.

If you are moving an existing site, Hostinger lists automatic website migration on its plans, so you can ask them to move it rather than doing it yourself.

Bottom line

For a first website in India, Hostinger offers good value as long as you go in with your eyes open about renewal prices. Pay for a longer term if you can, choose the India data centre if your visitors are here, and set a calendar reminder a month before renewal so you can review your plan. If that sounds right, Unlimited is the plan we would buy for a small business today.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hostinger good for beginners in India?

Yes, for most beginners. The dashboard is simple, SSL is set up automatically, WordPress and an AI website builder are included, and a domain is included for the first year on the plans we compared. The main thing to plan for is the renewal price after your first term.

Is Hostinger an Indian company?

No. Hostinger is an international company founded in Lithuania. It runs a dedicated India site (hostinger.com/in) with prices in rupees, and lists India among its data centre locations for web and cloud hosting.

Does Hostinger have servers in India?

Hostinger's help centre lists India among the data centre locations for web and cloud hosting plans. You choose a location during setup and can move an active web or cloud plan from the Plan Details page, subject to availability.

Why is the renewal price so much higher?

The headline price is an introductory discount for your first term, paid upfront. On 2 Nov 2026 Premium renewed at ₹449/mo, Unlimited at ₹649/mo and Cloud Startup at ₹1,599/mo for the same 48-month term. Many hosts in India use this model, so always compare renewal prices, not just the first-term price.

Can I get my money back?

Hostinger's refund policy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting plans. Domains follow separate rules: the domain included free with a plan is generally non-refundable, and its standard price may be deducted from your refund. Read the policy before you buy.

Is there a working Hostinger coupon code?

We did not find a verified coupon on Hostinger's own site when we checked. The sale prices shown on the pricing page already include the current discount.
